The Sound of Music

David, a cube neighbor near me, has clued me into his day’s annoyance. There’s someone over the cube wall silently-ish humming to whatever music they’re listening to through headphones. If it weren’t for the fact that they’re at least partially tone deaf, we might be able to pick out the specific song.

Acoustical Drum Design Principles

Amy and I were talking recently about me getting into drum construction. We’ve talked about it before, but I’m not exactly sure how to get started. After a conversation Sunday, my mind began working on some concepts to get me started. What I’ve come up with is a desire to redesign the drum (traditional styles… Continue reading Acoustical Drum Design Principles

Whoa! Big Weekend Approaching

I’m physically preparing myself for a substantial weekend to ring in the first of October. I did some heavy drumming Sunday as you may know. Well, now I have a damaged joint from that and a a crushed pinky from some stupid folding chairs. I wasn’t thinking about my weekend, which includes several drumming performances… Continue reading Whoa! Big Weekend Approaching

Celebrating our Decade Together

We had a good array of friends, both old and new, join us this weekend for our 10th anniversary celebration. I thank all of you that were able to come, and all of you that attempted but were lost (sorry, Marc). I especially enjoyed the myriad of entertainment friends could offer. Joshua Adrian performed some… Continue reading Celebrating our Decade Together

Doggone

In an unfortunate turn of events, our Great Pyrenees – Yang – closed a chapter in her life and is no longer welcome in our household. She had growled at Amy a couple of times when she attempted to take trash Yang had dug out of the trash can. I made it clear that Amy… Continue reading Doggone

Where the Rubber Meets the Road

I just ordered new tires for the Mazda3. It was a temultuous saga for me that has spanned several weeks now of research and stress. I’m the kind of guy that will research a product to death and still be concerned that I’m not getting the best value for my dollar. Normally, I’ve always just… Continue reading Where the Rubber Meets the Road

BODIES: The Exhibition (Wrap-Up)

Not being a medical student, I can’t begin to fully appreciate what I saw, but I can say that I would never have otherwise been able to examine cadavers as I did here.

BODIES, The Exhibition (Atlanta)

Tomorrow evening we’re heading out to BODIES, The Exhibition at the Atlanta Civic Center. I only just heard about it from the co-workers Friday, but it really sounded like something right up my alley. It’s being marketed as an artistic presentation of human anatomy. The models are made from human cadavers, and then preserved using… Continue reading BODIES, The Exhibition (Atlanta)

More Drumming Than You Can Imagine

Over the last two days, I’ve drummed for 12 hours. I did an 8-hour session for charity when my wife put together a fund-raiser Saturday. I don’t know how much money we raised, but I think she did pretty well for the amount of time she had to do it in. Needless to say, that… Continue reading More Drumming Than You Can Imagine
