Zen mind, Zen crash. This is apparently peace and tranquility for the EXXTREME! That is, of course, unless you find car wrecks into trees to be disettling. At any rate, the workmanship is spectacular and no cars (or trees) were actually hurt in the making of these gems. Crash Bonsai makes models…diaramas even, to replicate… Continue reading Crash Bonsai

Earth’s Oldest Maw Discovered
The Jenolan Caves have been assessed at 340 million years old, trumping all other cave systems by quite a bit. I’ve visited the Carlsbad Caverns before and was truly amazed at that beauty. I cannot imagine what a 340 million year-old system would look like. Robert Holly of the U.S. Department of the Interior said… Continue reading Earth’s Oldest Maw Discovered
Mostly Sunny Skies
Saturday in Vostok, mostly sunny skies with a low of -104°F. Meanwhile, Death Valley reports sunny skies and a pleasant 123°F. Hard to believe we’re talking about two places on the same planet.
Kingdom of Loathing
I’ve not written about it before, but the Kingdom of Loathing (KoL) is the best piece of crap since Legend of the Red Dragon (LoRD) way back in BBS days. A squid of thirty feet could grab you with its tentacles before you ever saw it at… Continue reading I ❤ Squid
How I Work
The longest amount of time spent, and time I am unable to account for, is research. Depending on the topic, I may spend a week pouring through as many references I can find on a particular subject to get a real good feel for the information. If I don’t require reference material as I write, it goes much quicker.
BODIES: The Exhibition (Wrap-Up)
Not being a medical student, I can’t begin to fully appreciate what I saw, but I can say that I would never have otherwise been able to examine cadavers as I did here.
BODIES, The Exhibition (Atlanta)
Tomorrow evening we’re heading out to BODIES, The Exhibition at the Atlanta Civic Center. I only just heard about it from the co-workers Friday, but it really sounded like something right up my alley. It’s being marketed as an artistic presentation of human anatomy. The models are made from human cadavers, and then preserved using… Continue reading BODIES, The Exhibition (Atlanta)
