I’m infatuated with big squid. In London, they have a 28 footer on display, which I would love to go and see. The fascinating thing about them is their potential for mythic sizes, rarity, and keen hunter abilities. A squid of thirty feet could grab you with its tentacles before you ever saw it at… Continue reading I ❤ Squid

Japanese Hornets Slaughter Bees
If you weren’t concerned with hornets before, now you’re vomiting from fear.
Drunken Goat Cheese
In what could very well be a new *thing*, I’ve indulged in a new cheese never before known to my palate. It was Isi’s (soon to have a linkable blog) inspiration that got me to do this. That is, Isi talked about a “Tour de Cheese” to have a chance at trying lots of different… Continue reading Drunken Goat Cheese
The Lamest Kid’s Meal Toy EVER
We looked through the informational pamphlet. Yeah – it didn’t get any more exciting inside either. There’s apparently a whole series to collect. Whoopie!
Medieval Punishments
My mom, out on the farm, has resurrected an ancient form of punishment to present to her dogs. One of her dogs, a young Great Pyrenees, has learned to kill the chickens. This is generally an unforgivable act, but one that she feels is accounted for by her rambunctious youth. However, the puppy has recently… Continue reading Medieval Punishments
Dog Days are Coming
There is a plan on the horizon that marks a great experiment for two grown men to conduct over the period of, hopefully, eight weeks. It’s either a great experiement worthy of a Nobel Prize, or it will kill each of us and grant us an entry in the Darwin Awards. I am not ready… Continue reading Dog Days are Coming
Shaolin Wisdom and Application
A random bit of information I find useful and entertaining. “Build rather than destroy; Avoid rather than check; Check rather than hurt; Hurt rather than maim; Maim rather than kill; For all life is precious; Nor can any be replaced” -Shaolim Monastery Credo I squat down, thus avoiding the horn-punch, tame the other hand, and… Continue reading Shaolin Wisdom and Application
How I Work
The longest amount of time spent, and time I am unable to account for, is research. Depending on the topic, I may spend a week pouring through as many references I can find on a particular subject to get a real good feel for the information. If I don’t require reference material as I write, it goes much quicker.
Falun Gong Cultivation
I recently saw the BODIES exhibit, where it is rumored that the cadavers on display are actually those of the Falun Gong. Could be. But I don’t compare this to ivory blackmarket trade. The prisoners are being executed regardless of whether or not people are buying organs and bodies.
One for the Record
It’s Sunday and I’m the first to wake up at the Gradin household – it’s been 30 minutes and I’m still the only one awake. Those of you with small children will probably recoil in shock with me on this. Balthazar has always been the one to wake me between 6:30am and 8:00am on the… Continue reading One for the Record
