A random bit of information I find useful and entertaining. “Build rather than destroy; Avoid rather than check; Check rather than hurt; Hurt rather than maim; Maim rather than kill; For all life is precious; Nor can any be replaced” -Shaolim Monastery Credo I squat down, thus avoiding the horn-punch, tame the other hand, and… Continue reading Shaolin Wisdom and Application

How I Work
The longest amount of time spent, and time I am unable to account for, is research. Depending on the topic, I may spend a week pouring through as many references I can find on a particular subject to get a real good feel for the information. If I don’t require reference material as I write, it goes much quicker.
World of Warcraft: Fin
I played World of Warcraft for a little while – maybe six months or so. Just this past weekend I finally handed over my account to a willing addict to continue my legacy. Jeb now has two accounts to fuel his fires, one being mine. It was a good run, but in the end I… Continue reading World of Warcraft: Fin
An Obsessive’s Guide to Coffee
A co-worker brought in a copy of Food & Wine magazine for my perusal this morning. It includes an article on coffee, the result of which is from “410 man-hours [of] tasting 157 coffees and testing 67 coffeemakers (not to mention 10 grinders) to find the best of the best.” This is something I can… Continue reading An Obsessive’s Guide to Coffee
Sitting with Eric Peterson
Matt Z. and I sat with Eric Peterson Monday for some education on the doumbek. It was enlightening, as most any training would be for us these days. At one point, Matt insisted that Eric play a riff on our drums to ensure that his, seriously more professional, drum was not magical in some way.… Continue reading Sitting with Eric Peterson
Serenity, The Movie
My wife and I watched Serenity Saturday evening. We both really enjoyed the movie. We’ve both seen the first and only season in its entirety, and were saddened to see it cancelled. Despite this, the fans rallied and helped to get a movie made from the TV show. The original cast starred in the film… Continue reading Serenity, The Movie
Ninja Training
That’s it…I’m quitting my job and joining Team Ryouko for proper ninja training. These guys are out of control! I’ve rarely seen such a collection of martial artists as these. Just check out some of their demonstrational videos and discover for yourself who pwns whom – pirates or ninjas. Google Videos: Ninja Training Team Ryouko… Continue reading Ninja Training
An Event Apart
I’m really interested in going to “An Event Apart” in Atlanta this year. From what I hear, the conference is pivotal in anyone’s quest for web design excellence. Since it’s in Atlanta, I have a chance to get in this time around. The real problem is the money. Because I’m not primarily employed in the… Continue reading An Event Apart
The Church Wants to Shut Me Down
A while back I wrote about an engagement with one of the larger churches in town. I wrote truthfully, though I didn’t get into much of my personal and irrelevant opinions. Now, a month later, they’re threatening my manager – who hired me for the job – with litigation and “make your life difficult” demands.… Continue reading The Church Wants to Shut Me Down
Free Chapel Presents The Story of Christmas
My wife, a good friend of ours, and I were hired to perform for Free Chapel’s production of The Christmas Story in Gainesville this past weekend. The show was probably astounding, though I’ve haven’t seen it yet. It works out that way for those of us that are actually in the play. Getting it together… Continue reading Free Chapel Presents The Story of Christmas
