To Err is Beta

I thought, man! You don’t see this screen often from Google. But then I noticed the logo and all was calmed. One must remember the small “BETA” that is as integral to the Google logo as a merged Photoshop layer. It’s a crutch and a warning, though most people undoubtedly forget about it when it’s… Continue reading To Err is Beta

Google Speaks H4x0r

It turns out that one of Google’s many language options is “H4x0r.” Now the l33t have somewhere to conduct there searches besides astalavista.box.sk. Among some other humorous ones were Elmer Fudd, the Swedish Chef, Klingon, and Pig Latin. From a purely geeky perspective, I dug the Latin language option too. Being somewhat of a linguist… Continue reading Google Speaks H4x0r

Technorati to be Assimilated

Niall Kennedy’s blog spoke recently of a rumor regarding Technorati’s sale ‘to a large search company.’ The thought is interesting enough, though not as extraordinary as you might think. The ‘large search company’ would most likely be Google or Yahoo – in that order. Yahoo is certainly trying position itself in the industry as the… Continue reading Technorati to be Assimilated

NNTP 2 RSS (Techie)

I found an invaluable thing recently. Google’s old beta site for their groups allows access to newsgroups via RSS. There isn’t a link anywhere to indicate this, but it’s available if you can construct the URI. Just enter http://groups-beta.google.com/group/group.name/feed/topics.xml into your aggregator, where group.name is the newsgroup your interested in (and exists in Google’s webified… Continue reading NNTP 2 RSS (Techie)

BoingBoing TidBits

Via BoingBoing, we learn of the Watsui Cow’s rather well-endowed head. Link Suprisingly, there’s very little information discovered about the watsui cattle through a quick google.com search. I also checked the Wikipedia, but nothing there either. I’d write something if only I had found a relevant source. Also, this rather funny sign:

GMail Users – Exploit that GB

Win XP Starter Edition Images

NeoWin.net informs us of a new edition of Windows XP (though I’m certain there were other more official sources), the Starter Edition (SE). SE is an ambiguous cloud of hype that many industries implore. It could be anything from “Second Edition” to “Special Edition” or “Sales Executive.” By maintaining the “SE” non-clarification however, a company… Continue reading Win XP Starter Edition Images
