Some good friends of mine, Drew and [Ba]Tin[n]a, just had a baby. They already have a boy – eight or nine I think – so they’re not new at this, just rusty. The girl was born by force Monday. She’s 7lb some-odd ounces (pretty much a perfect weight). Drew, in his sleep-deprived state, has either forgotten or not successfully established a name for her (I haven’t talked to mom yet). To this, I’m going to offer some good alternatives to “the unnamed one” for the rest of her life.
- Drewinna (a given)
- Athena
- Rianna
- Ulla
- Brunhilde
- Hera
- *UPDATE* Cud (middle name, “Sue” – I think that goes nicely with their last name, which I won’t reveal here without permission)
- *UPDATE* Rowanberry
I’ve tried to compile a list of names that are not currently or likely to be in the future, trendy. I especially like “Brunhilde,” but that seems to evoke a visual image that a 7lb, baby-girl can’t fill.
