Legacies
We pass bits down from generation to generation. Sometimes it’s intentional, other times it’s quite accidental. In either case, it’s unavoidable – especially in the case of parenthood. Meet, Balthazar. He’s my eldest son and new to the real social interactions of the web. It’s a scary place out here, but I’m cautiously optimistic that… Continue reading Legacies

Ok everybody! I must say that I have introduced myself pretty well (not) but just in caseā¦ my name is Balthazar Gradin and I shall teach you all about weird games, art, food, culture, and more! Hello World!
Hey! This is my very first post to the world! It’s so exciting to have a place that I can share with you all. Here I shall talk about all of the weird stuff that I know of.
17th Anniversary
Seventeen years ago, today, two kids started off on what would become the greatest adventure of their lives. Having proposed to my (then) girlfriend, and her reply being in the affirmative, she then asked me, “why do you want to marry me?” Among other (certainly better) answers, I told her that I enjoyed her companionship… Continue reading 17th Anniversary
Sharpie Liquid Pencils, for the Lose
I don’t know if you’ve tried these things out, but I gave it a go. They could be great because it appears to be liquid graphite, and erases cleaner than the real thing! However, the mixture is too prone to clog and it comes off being a cheap ballpoint pen. *Mental Note: Doodle more.
WordCamp, ATL
I’m attending Wordcamp this year for the first time, and it’s a nagging reminder that I haven’t actually been a user or the product for some time. I am an advocate for the product, so I need to be more involved in all aspects of its feature set. If we met each other here at… Continue reading WordCamp, ATL
Movie Night: Red Dawn
We had a night out on the town alone, the wife and I, and we saw “Red Dawn.” It was a toss-up between this and “Life of Pi,” but the game of ‘paper, rock, scissors’ never fails in making these hard decisions. What I can tell you about this film is that it stands apart… Continue reading Movie Night: Red Dawn
Inexorable Cycling Ramp-Up
I missed the GA 400 Century, but I’d love to have done it. I’m pretty far from the endurance needed to complete a 100 mile stint, but I’m very interested in getting there! In the meantime, I’ve started riding to work again about once a week. That gives me a little over 20 miles I… Continue reading Inexorable Cycling Ramp-Up
Tsungi Horn
I both found the answer I’ve sought and had my hopes and dreams crushed by said answer in one shot. I’ve been listening to a song by Mercan Dede for sometime now, “Book of Wings.” In it is a featured instrument – apparently Asian in nature (in my mind) – of which I knew nothing.… Continue reading Tsungi Horn
