Some friends of mine, Brandon Smith and his wife, are running in the Arizona marathon on January 15th. They’re raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, so it’s not just insane excercise but also a good cause. The donation site lists their progress and training goals along the way. As of October 8th, they were doing approximately 8 mile training runs. Nuts! I remember running a mile in grade shcool. It was a requirement for the Presidential Fitness test. I mostly just jogged the mile, but one year I tried. I did six minutes and some-odd seconds. That puts me in roughly last place in most marathons I think. I also felt horrible after the run. Running sucks, but Brandon and his wife do it well. Give their cause some money. Cancer research is a very necessary, but expensive track.
