Creation Museum

I have mixed feelings about this one. The Answers in Genesis group is working to put together the funds for the “Creation Museum” in Cincinnati. On the one hand, it seems really cool that a creationists natural history museum includes such things as dinosaurs in their perspective. I may not know enough about creationism, but my perspective was that dinosaurs were ignored due to the fact that they conflicted with Genesis. Of course, I’m also a little frightened by the museum. I don’t know that I’d want my child going off into any rooms without me for fear of some sort of brain-washing treatment. Reading around at the museum’s initial proposals leaves me very curious and stand-offish at the same time.

What is so different about this museum?
Almost all natural-history museums proclaim an evolutionary, humanistic worldview. For example, they will typically place dinosaurs on an evolutionary timeline millions of years before man. AiG’s museum will proclaim the authority and accuracy of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and will show that there is a Creator, and that this Creator is Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:15-20), who is our Savior.

  1. Ah the brainwashing 🙁 Unfortunately for many christians this has become a stereotype. The plain fact is that these issues have been debated until people have been blue in the face with no clear victor. The choices are: accept teachings from science or accept teachings from the bible (or become a progressive creationist). Christians bible is based on information from a creator or a supreme being. They also believe that everything was created by God and God has always been. Whatever one believes there is one principal which just cannot be avoided, something has to come from something (energy cannot be created or destroyed). Science teaches this but cant explain it, with its big bang theory, unless they can explain matter or energy being instantly created from nothing. Jesus centered christians dont claim to have all the answers but one, salvation. That is offered to anyone, black, white, hispanic, retarded, gimp, satanist, it does not matter. Better yet you dont have to sell Avon or bibles or create a pryamid scheme just accept Jesus as your savior, this can be private or public, its up to you and between you and God. Unfortunately I feel bad for all the mishaps of religious fanatics and people who have misused it and abused its main purpose. Ultimately its a man made institution and like all others subject to corruption and flaws, wisdom and faith are needed to carry you through. Great now you have a creationist’s viewpoint and I minored in Chemistry and Biology so Im not oblivious to the principles of science 🙂

  2. …and I believe in Santa Clause, and the Easter Bunny. Oh wait, the Tooth Fairy will be jealous that she does not have her own museum in Kentucky, too! The creation museum is a joke, and these people are deluding themselves. Most of all, I feel sorry for their kids.

  3. None of us having been there, we all come to our own conclusions regarding the origin of life based on our observance of what has been left behind, and our predispositions. There is no proof. Nothing can be tested. We can merely examine the evidence(facts) we have been given and logically draw a conclusion. Many, including myself, have taken the evidence and have given a verdict that there must be a Creator. There is an exorbitant amount of evidence to substanciate the Biblical account of Creation. Regardless of their conclusions, I respect anyone who sincerely pursues the truth to such questions as: where did we come from?, why are we here?, and where do we go from here?. The evolutionary theory has been given ample stage for its adherents to declare its case. I think a private museum providing a logical point of view regarding such a significant topic should not be considered trivial or threatening. Though I will likely never see the door to this museum, I support their efforts to share the science they have compiled in a non-coercive, thought provoking environment.
